3 days ago I did what I would never thought of doing 6 months ago. I traded my iPhone 3GS in for an Android phone. And I have got to tell you – I’m free. Free from the restrictions Apple had placed on me and my phone’s capabilities. But that’s not, of course, how Steve Jobs tells it  -

“Yep, freedom from programs that steal your private data. Freedom from programs that trash your battery. Freedom from porn. Yep, freedom. The times they are a changin’, and some traditional PC folks feel like their world is slipping away.”

This is a smack in the face to all iPhone users. Why isn’t it that we can’t decide what to free ourselves from? Why restrict us and call it freedom?

This all feels like they don’t think the average consumer is smart enough to know what is good for them. I would like more respect than that. I am all out Sprinting away from this contract.

What I did about it?

I got an HTC EVO on the Sprint network.

As of recent, Android phones have been selling like hotcakes. Around 200,000 a day! And this community will continue to grow stronger and stronger. In number and Sprint’s infrastructure. Only a handful of cities have 4G right now, but many more are to come.

PROS

• 4g speeds
• Cheaper contract
• Better hardware overall
• You can customize the hell out of it
• Bigger screen (but not too big)
• Turn-by-turn navigation
• Superior voice control
• Flash
• A BACK BUTTON!

CONS

• Battery life (It does anything & everything you could want : The battery is going to suffer)
• Not very intuitive
• Screen resolution could be better (iPhone 4 definitely beats it on this one)

Over in China PBR is having a field day. And how exactly they’re pulling this off is beyond me. Perhaps they were able to work out a deal with the government to block PBR from search engine results everywhere else in the world, leaving their marketing team to do the rest. I must say the bottle is quite nice. I might even pay $4.50 for that over here.
